Every motorcycle has a story. Some just need another chapter.

Moto Recovery's Project Bike Program gives donated motorcycles a second life while creating opportunities to strengthen the motorcycle community. Our volunteers inspect, repair, restore, and refresh donated motorcycles through hands-on workdays and our monthly Wrench Wednesday events.

In the past, completed project bikes were given away annually to Moto Recovery members. As our mission continues to grow, the program is evolving.

Today, some completed project bikes will remain in the Moto Recovery fleet to support Wrench Wednesday, allowing riders to learn maintenance, diagnostics, and repair techniques on real motorcycles. Some motorcycles may be sold or auctioned, with all proceeds returning directly to Moto Recovery's nonprofit mission to fund future restorations, Wind Therapy, Wrench Wednesday, and other community programs.

Not every project has the same ending. Occasionally, we encounter someone in the motorcycle community whose circumstances make reliable transportation truly life-changing. When appropriate, Moto Recovery may place a completed project motorcycle directly into the hands of someone in need. Whether it's helping a rider replace an unreliable scooter they depend on every day or providing a fresh start after hardship, every decision is made with one goal in mind: putting donated motorcycles where they can make the greatest difference.

Donating a Motorcycle

Donating a motorcycle to Moto Recovery is one of the most meaningful ways to support our mission. We accept motorcycles in a variety of conditions, from complete running bikes to unfinished projects and non-running motorcycles with restoration potential.

Moto Recovery is a Colorado 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and qualifying donations may be tax deductible. To help ensure you receive any available tax benefits, donors are responsible for determining the fair market value of their donated motorcycle and should retain any documentation needed for their records. Moto Recovery will provide a donation receipt acknowledging the donation but cannot determine or certify the value of a donated motorcycle.

Every donated motorcycle follows its own path. Some become educational platforms during Wrench Wednesday. Some join the Wind Therapy fleet. Some are sold or auctioned to fund future nonprofit missions. And sometimes, a donated motorcycle becomes exactly what someone in our community needs: a dependable set of two wheels that helps them get to work, regain independence, or simply get back to riding.

Current projects

1981 Honda CM400 Custom

This 1981 Honda CM400 Custom came to Moto Recovery after spending several years sitting in a shed. Its owner would love the chance to feel the wind on two wheels again, so our volunteers are working to get this classic Honda running safely and reliably. The goal isn’t a full restoration, just a solid, dependable motorcycle ready to put a few more miles on the road.

2005 Triumph Sprint ST 1050

This Triumph Sprint ST 1050 was donated to Colorado Triumph Riders in late summer 2025 and transferred to Moto Recovery when the nonprofit dissolved. After previous electrical work by a volunteer, we tracked down the final no-ECU-communication issue and refreshed nearly everything inside the fuel tank. In July 2026, it roared back to life for the first time in roughly 12 years! Next up are new tires, fresh fluids, a valve check, and eventually a cosmetic restoration. We’re currently receiving $500 per month in donations specifically dedicated to bringing this project bike back.

2007 Genuine Stella 2T

This Genuine Stella 150 2T was donated to Moto Recovery at the beginning of the year after its owner passed away and a family member was tasked with cleaning out his home. It came to us with an oil leak and a recommendation to premix the fuel, so we refreshed the oil and fuel systems, cleaned the carburetor, replaced several airbox and carb gaskets, and got the speedometer and electrical system working again. A few months later another oil leak appeared, so we’ll be diving back in to track it down and get the Stella back on the road.

2018 Triumph Street Twin 900

This 2018 Triumph Street Twin 900 came to Moto Recovery when one of our volunteers was preparing to move out of state. For now, it’s patiently waiting its turn in the project lineup. The plan is to start with a fresh battery and basic service, then address the handlebars, controls, and some cosmetic damage left from a high-side years ago before getting this Triumph back on the road.
